Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

PRIMARY coworking is more than just a workspace, it’s a wellness hub dedicated to both your wealth and health.

Burnout, stress, anxiety, frustration, and depression know no bounds. It doesn’t matter if you’re new to your career, have been at the same job for 20 years, welcomed your first baby, bought your third house, or diligently follow a health routine.

Thanks to the younger generation, mental health stigmas are disappearing, and more people are stepping up and getting the help they need and deserve.

To complement therapy and pharmaceutical interventions, PRIMARY’s offerings extend beyond just an office with workplace amenities, they provide additional support so you can improve your mental health and thrive in all aspects of your life.

Move

Yoga and meditation have both been studied in relation to mental health benefits. Studies have shown that the modalities can help reduce stress and anxiety, boost mood, increase relaxation, and improve depression symptoms. Additionally, aerobic exercise, such as stationary cycling, may also have an impact on mental health.

PRIMARY’s fitness studio offers daily yoga and meditation classes for Members, along with a Peloton room so you can get your cycle on.

Eat

Did you know your diet may impact your mental health?

We know that studies have shown omega-3s are ideal for mental health. Tuna, salmon, and mackerel are all loaded with omega-3s. Dark, leafy greens like spinach are also great options. A meal that pairs complex carbohydrates such as sweet potatoes, protein, and fatty acids can help support mental health.

On the flip side, fried, greasy foods, and anything high in sugar may make depressive and anxious symptoms worse.

Eating healthy meals and snacks throughout the day can help keep your mood balanced, and your belly full.

Sleep

Sleep is vital for the body to function in general. It’s also incredibly important for mental health. Sleep deprivation can negatively impact mood, cognitive skills, mental health, and more. It can cause unfavorable responses to minor inconveniences, and negatively impact your work for the day.

Instead of fighting to keep your eyes open and your brain engaged when you’re feeling exhausted in the middle of the day, take advantage of PRIMARY’s nap room. Studies have shown that a 30-min nap may improve brain health.

Connect

Sometimes, poor mental health keeps us in solitude. However, being around people and creating new and fostering old connections may increase happiness, reduce loneliness feelings, and give you that ‘dopamine hit’ you might need.

Attend a networking event, join a social club, say hi to your office neighbor, or try a new fitness class to increase socialization.

When your mental health is in balance it can make a difference in each facet of your life.
